EASY DIY LEGGINGS

17 February 2013

I wear leggings every single day. This has been my basic style ever since I gave birth to my baby girl and realized it would be a long time before I'd ever be wearing my pants again. So now I have one million pairs of leggings. Out of that one million, I have about four that fit the way that I like. Some of them are too short, others ride too low at the waist, or the waistband is too thin, too thick, or they are just plain uncomfortable. It can be downright maddening sometimes.

Ever since I discovered Spoonflower I have been wanting to learn how to make leggings using fabric of my own design. I thought it would be amazing. However, I'm not super skilled when it comes to sewing and it occurred to me that the patterns I'd find could lead me to create leggings that are too short, ride too low at the waist, have a waistband that is too thin, too thick, or be just plain uncomfortable. I decided that I didn't want to spend one million dollars making a bunch of leggings that fit just as stupid as the ones that I already have, so I retired the idea. Until I found this tutorial.

It's a custom fit pattern for perfect leggings. Seriously. It's so simple looking it's astounding. The tutorial leaves no questions unanswered. She teaches you how to do absolutely everything. I feel like I might actually be able to make myself a pair of leggings and not have the entire project turn out a total failure. Awesome!
